Obama or Romney? Let Your Coffee Cup Decide!

It’s the question everyone’s been asking, and with just four more weeks in this presidential race, the answer is just around the corner. Or maybe even closer than that, depending on where you live.

According to this year’s 7-Election results thus far, Mr. President is 16 points ahead of his opponent Mr. Romney. Yes, you read that correctly, the 7-Election!

For those who have never heard of it (I only discovered it last night), 7-Eleven’s around the country have been participating in their own mock election for the past three presidential races. Customers can choose to have their coffee in either a blue or red cup (they have regular cups for “nonpartisan” folks too).

The 7-Election campaign also has a Mobile Oval Office roaming around the country where you can take a picture with a mock Oval Office and get a free cup of coffee while you’re at it!

I think the whole concept is a fun idea to get people involved in the race even if they’re not really informed or overly-enthusiastic about politics. And as silly as this all may be, the cups have correctly predicted the winner of the last three elections. Something to think about over your morning coffee!

  1. Your blog is probably one of my favorites because you talk to the readers instead of telling them. You bring in all the aspects that are needed for a successful blog – short, sweet, to the point, a topic that almost everyone can relate to. In this post especially, with the debate just a few days ago and this big election coming up, those are things that people want to see and read about. Great job! :)

  2. The post has a interactive and newsworthy feel. People who read this will likely be keeping an eye out for these cups now. It makes the blog very relevant and keeps people returning for more.

  3. Wow, I had no idea about this 7-election! I was really interested in it, and I especially liked how you linked to the 7-election site for more information. I think I may go grab a cup of joe and cast my vote too!

  4. I dig this idea alot! If I was going home this weekend, I’d definitely stop in to the 7-11 down the road and snag one! Coffee is such a universal delight that it seems only fitting for a business that sells it to try and engage its patrons in what might be the most important election of our lifetime!

    Like the post alot, Thibbs!

  5. Nice visual design: I like the placement of the image in relation to text layout.
Nice concision in the writing, and I like how you’ve shared an unexpected bit of information related to your topic.
I noticed you have a “like” from someone in Romania!
